with one ear towards the river, with one eye to the land (2023)

A temporary installation of a series of public artworks at the Greenport Conservation Area (Hudson, NY), commissioned by the Columbia Land Conservancy.

As you meander along the Dogwood Trail, you will come across objects that invite you to look closer. Look through, look around, kneel down, crane your neck, get close, listen, touch. You will start to notice the small things, the multitude of living beings that make up this ecosystem. Then, step back: see how these small moments become a complex series of relationships who all rely upon one another.

Each artwork was created in collaboration with a different local naturalist, highlighting different moments in the landscape.

This work is supported by the Columbia Land Conservancy, the Hudson River Estuary Program, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, and the NYS Water Resources Institute through a Submerse NY Grant.
